us Sunday, April 22, 2018, for Quarterly Exhibit program “The History of Scammon” presented by Ella Buzzard, a well-known
local historian. Scammon, located in Cherokee County, is the home of the first
deep shaft coal mine, which was sunk in 1874. This will be a very interesting
and informative talk concerning the rich history of Scammon.
Following
the program, we suggest that you visit the new second Quarterly Exhibit
“Scammon”, hosted by MaryJo Johnson.

2:00 p.m. The program is free to the public. Donations are appreciated.
The
Quarterly Exhibit is open for viewing at Miners Hall Museum, 701 S. Broadway,
Franklin, Kansas 66735, April 2 through
June 28. The Museum hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Admission is free.
