Candidate Forum - Crawford County Sheriff

The chamber has announced a series of candidate forums leading up to the November 3 general election. The forums will be live streamed on the City of Pittsburg YouTube channel and we will provide a link on the chamber’s Facebook page. Please note that, due to healthy and safety precautions, residents are asked to view the forums this way rather than in person.

The schedule for the forums is as follows:
Monday, October 5
6 p.m. - Crawford County Sheriff (Danny Smith/JJ Karlinger)
7 p.m. – Kansas House of Representatives, District 3 (Monica Murnan/Chuck Smith)

Wednesday, October 7
6 p.m. – Kansas Senate, District 13 (Richard Hilderbrand/Nancy Ingle)

The candidates will answer as many questions as time will allow. Residents may submit questions in advance to bbenson@pittsburgareachamber.com. The chamber asks that all questions be tasteful and applicable to both candidates.

Paint the Town Red 2020
Paint the Town Red, organized by the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce, brings a week of excitement as the Pittsburg area becomes covered with crimson and gold, split face logos and gorilla statues.  Paint the Town Red is one of the most widely anticipated community events in southeast Kansas, and was identified by the NCAA as a model event for other communities looking to engage their Division II universities.  

Throughout the days leading up to Paint the Town Red, area businesses transform into symbols of gorilla pride with painted windows and decorated lawns.  The business decorating contest generates fierce competition amongst area businesses aiming to win the coveted awards.

Holiday Shopping Ladies' Night

Join us for the return of one of our most popular annual events. The Holiday Shopping Ladies Night event, sponsored by Mpix, Freeman Health System and Riggs Chiropractic, will be held on Thursday, November 12, and will offer local residents a chance to shop those items that are sure to be best sellers this holiday season. This year’s event will look different, but will still allow us to showcase these local business offerings while ensuring the safety of vendors and attendees.  

The Holiday Shopping Ladies Night will be held at the new Riggs Chiropractic facility at 1117 West Fourth Street in Pittsburg and will feature three, one-hour blocks with limited capacity. Only 30 tickets will be sold for each time block, with attendees receiving a complimentary drink ticket. We will feature a "Pick-a-Present" gift table, raffle drawings and much more!

Temperature checks will be taken upon arrival and masks will be required. Hand sanitizer will be available at check-in and throughout the vendor area.
