Jayhawk Construction Team Coffee Invitation

Jayhawk Construction Team Coffee Invitation
Jayhawk Construction Team Invites Area Business Representatives to Coffee

Please join key members of the Jayhawk Wind construction team Monday, Jan.13 at the Girard Civic Center, located at 102 N. Ozark Street in Girard. Apex Clean Energy, developer of the Jayhawk Wind Project, will be hosting the Coffee to provide an opportunity to learn more about how local vendors will be able to participate in the construction of Jayhawk Wind.

The team will provide information about the wind farm construction process and discuss what products and services would be needed. Vendors and area businesses are invited to join anytime between 2 pm and 6 pm.

Wind farm construction is a very specialized process, but it requires common products and services, many of which can be found locally. This work includes truck hauling, upgrading and building roads, third party testing, surveying, port-a-potties, concrete services and supply and installation of erosion and sediment controls, fences and culverts. In addition, services such as lodging, food, and more are needed to sustain the hundreds of workers who will be employed to build the project once construction begins.

Polar Plunge

Polar Plunge

The Polar Plunge is an annual event that takes place throughout the state to raise money for Special Olympics Kansas. Brave individuals raise money leading up to the event and on the day of they jump into the icy waters of Kansas pools or lakes!

We work with the National Guard to provide these tents at Crimson Villas Apartments.  Plungers jump into the cold water and immediately run to warm tents to dry off and get warm again.

You can register as an individual or as part of a team. Have a group of friends who love to do crazy things for a great cause? Gather them together and start a team today! Teams can have as few as two people or as many as you can find!  Nothing will bond you together like raising money for Special Olympics Kansas and jumping in cold water together!
