"Partners in Progress" Community Campaign Kickoff Video

The Pittsburg State University Community Campaign began in 1985 with the incorporation of the PSU Foundation. This annual campaign brings business leaders from across Crawford County to join forces with PSU to raise funds to support scholarships, academic programs, and other university needs, strengthening a longtime relationship between Pittsburg State and the community.

This year we will celebrate the 36th annual "Partners in Progress" Community Campaign kickoff virtually. Check out the video link below where you will hear from co-chairs Ms. Denise Grasso, Mr. Kevin Fry and Dr. Jason Heardt, along with President Steve Scott and the 2021 Rex Crowley award recipients.

We are so thankful for the partnership that began more than 100 years ago with the community and are excited to continue this tradition.

22 Years in Business for the Schiltz Family

22 Years in Business for the Schiltz Family
Today is our 22nd business anniversary! Our family started our first store, Schiltz Truck Sales in Lamar, MO where we sell trucks and Bad Boy Mowers. To better serve our customer base in Kansas, we opened our store, Schiltz Lawn & Garden in Pittsburg, KS three years ago! In addition to Bad Boy Lawn Mowers, we also carry STIHL outdoor power equipment, Dryshod Footwear, Makita battery operated tools and equipment, workwear lines, and Rough Country off-road parts.

Today, we are the oldest Bad Boy dealer in the United States and carry the largest selection of Bad Boy Mowers and parts in the four-state area! We are the exclusive Pittsburg, Kansas Bad Boy Mowers dealer and unlike big box stores, we provide the service and warranty for our Bad Boy Mowers beyond the sale.

The Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas Scholarships

The Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas (CFSEK) is pleased to announce that we are now accepting scholarship applications for the 2021-2022 school year. CFSEK is home to more than a dozen different scholarship funds established by local residents, businesses, and organizations to help area students pursue a postsecondary education.

Each CFSEK scholarship has its own eligibility requirements. A brief description of the requirements for each is included below. For a full list of all requirements, see each scholarship's application form on the For Scholarships page .

Most applications are due by the end of March, but some must be returned to the Community Foundation by March 15th, and some are returned to organizations other than the Community Foundation. Be sure to read the instructions included in each scholarship application carefully before completing or submitting it.

Good luck, students!

PSU Campus-Community Green Guide

PSU Students developing the first Campus-Community Green Guide
· 80% of consumers report considering a company’s environmental and social commitment before making a purchase (Green Business Bureau, 2020).

· 79% of hiring prospects look for companies with positive environmental credentials when seeking new employment (Green Business Bureau, 2020).

Pitt State students are requesting support from the Pittsburg business community for the development of a PSU Campus-Community Green Guide. PSU students are working on a grant provided through the PSU Student Sustainability Fee Council (SSFC) to create a PSU Campus-Community Green Guide which will be distributed to future incoming students at Pittsburg State and available for download through the PSU Sustainability webpage beginning in the Fall of 2021.

‘Green Guides’ are communication tools that allow universities to raise awareness about pro-social environmental behaviors within Residence Halls, as well as highlight local businesses who engage in sustainability-focused or socially responsible business practices. For example, businesses that responsibility, ethically, or locally source supplies and materials, or engage in environmentally responsible business practices related to energy, waste and water.

This tool is designed to increase awareness of the "green" community within our region.  All local businesses are invited to participate.
